Christmas Ball
A Victorian Christmas Outfit
Wrapped up warm against the winter chill, this double breasted coat is made of a lovely
emerald green silk velvet. It is trimmed with luxurious golden trim around the cuffs and the
hem. The hem is also trimmed with sequins and pearls.
It is cinched in very tightly around the waist with a deep red silk belt that is buttoned on to
the coat at the front and back with tiny gold buttons.
There is a little red silk evening bag. Heavily
trimmed with gold. It has tiny heart shaped pendants
running all around the lower edge and an intricate
chain handle.
In her hair she has a feather pick, trimmed with
green and red feathers, gold beads and golden shiny
jewels.
The coat unfastens from the left side
with a tiny press stud under the red belt
and the inside is fully lined in a
glittering embellished voile fabric.
The ball gown is made in a deep red
silk dupion shot with black. It has an
over-skirt in glittering voile to match the
lining of the coat.
The hemline has a heavily beaded and
jewelled brocade trim.
The bodice of the dress is delicately hand
embroidered in gold thread. It has tiny
sequins and beads sewn on as well as a
multitude of applied crystals.
The shoulder straps of the dress have been
interwoven with more of the golden voile,
this drapes over the tops of the arms.
The dress fastens at the back with tiny press
studs. The back has been trimmed with tiny
gold bead buttons.
The skirt gathers up into a bustle at the back
giving the customary Victorian shape to the
dress.
To finish off the outfit there are a pair of
shiny metallic red shoes.
